BOOK A DELTA CHARTER EARLY FOR THIS SUMMER
Sailing the San Joaquin Delta is always a relaxing experience. Whether one wants to anchor or visit a full service yacht club, the Delta has something to offer everyone. Three river reach is just off the Stockton Deep Water Channel by Mandeville Tip. Anchoring is easy in the soft mud bottom. 50 feet of chain will have the boat gently swing no more than 30 degrees with the changing tide. The gentle delta breeze keeps things cool and the bugs away.
On Taylor Slough off Bethel Island is the Caliente Yacht Club. Tim the care taker is very friendly and helpful. The members are also very friendly and make visitors feel as if they were members. The club has a nice bar and serves dinner and breakfast on weekends. There are also nice shower and washing facilities. When docking, high winds can make things challenging. It is best to time your departure and arrival in the late evening or early morning.
Just down the Stockton Deep Water channel is the Delta Yacht Club. This club only allows reserved groups to use their facilities. If you can cruise in with a group of boats, this club is truly a treat. It is situated on a private island and has a pool, game room, bar, kitchen, and barbeque. The members are very friendly and open the entire facility to guests.
